From Rescued to Happy, Happy, Happy!

By Anupo Joy

Shanti is her name and she is a kind, sweet, soul, wise way beyond her seven kitten months. This fuzzy, gray and white embodiment of Peace, is the newest member of my family. Shanti was a rescue and came into my life with a damaged leg.

Adopting a rescued animal can be an amazing experience. As a whole they are the most grateful and willing to learn animals I have met. They do however take extra awareness at the beginning of a new relationship. Often the memory of cruelty and neglect shows up when we least expect it.

I was making up the bed recently and dropped her into the middle of it. The time when the sheets and blankets are flying around, has always been great fun for my other cats. What excitement, landing poof, into the middle of moving sheets. I didn't think about it when I did it. As she landed I realized something was wrong. Her eyes were as big as saucers and when I went to her, her little heart was thumping and I could feel and see her mind racing as she checked with me. She was asking was this dangerous? Had she done something wrong? Was she going to get hurt? And thinking just plain "Oh shit!" Her history was she had been thrown, like a baseball into an ice cold swimming pool. Being airborne for even that split second was enough to stimulate the memory. I apologized profusely to her and sat and rubbed her until she calmed down. Then as I gently held her I let her know the frightening experiences were over and although she might experience startling events in our home there would never be an intent to scare or harm her. As I talked I naturally pictured how the big cats have always played with the bedding and how much excitement and fun they have.

One of the most useful ways of teaching new possibilities is by storytelling. Everyone loves a good story including animals. An entrancing storyteller includes with the narrative and teaching points, emotions that anchor the good experience of the story and create curiosity for even more enjoyable times.

Shanti has played in the bedding since and now one of her favorite games is mole surprise. She runs under the different layers of sheets and blankets as the bed is being made.

By talking to her and showing her pictures of the big cats having a good time it gave Shanti alternate examples of how she could experience the bed making. Her mind then worked out how the experience could be fun for her. And fun she is definitely having. We never know when mole surprise is going to strike!

Becoming a Skilled Hunter

By Anupo Joy

I was talking with an orange, adolescent Tabby cat the other day. The topic was his hunting and what he did with his prey.

Recently he had been hunting lizards and he would bring them onto the porch leaving them there dead or maimed.

In our conversation I talked about how it was OK to hunt and kill his prey IF he was going to eat it. However IF he was not going to eat it he needed to leave the creature unharmed and able to go on with it's life. Partway into the conversation Tiger became very busy with bathing. In this case, it was his way of dealing with internal conflict. When I brought him back to the topic I remarked about how much more skill it takes as a hunter to not damage an animal and I wondered just how skilled a hunter he could become.

I mentally showed him pictures of his adult male cat friend (who just happens to be my own sweetheart Tuddy) and how he brings me the gift of his prey. I showed Tiger how the lizards that were brought into my kitchen and carefully placed on the little rug were healthy and unharmed and how Tuddy and his sister would follow me to the lizard release area and watch them go. As I gave him a playful rub and tussle I wondered just how skilled a hunter Tiger could become?

Tiger is a young cat and will need some reminding so when I see him around I’ll just happen to wonder the same question over and over for a while and watch the results. (During the time I have been writing this short article I have been brought two small lizards both completely unharmed. One was placed on the little rug and the other on my foot.)

Talking with Animals

By Kris Moore

"Anupo Joy talks to animals. I mean she really does. She listens and they know she hears them."
Rachel McNaughton of Carlsbad is talking about her telepathic animal trainer." "When she left," Rachel continued, "my dog Obie looked deep into my eyes. He seemed to be thanking me for inviting over someone who could talk to him. He is definitely calmer."

Any animal lover will tell you that pets have captured their hearts. We are grateful for the gift of love they so generously offer, even when we have been stingy with ours. We treat them like children but they are not. We are devoted to them, yet often puzzled by their strange behavior. If only they could talk. Enter Anupo Joy, a statuesque women with a wonderfully hearty laugh and a soothing demeanor. Anupo, which means "unique," is a natural intuitive who has done over 43,000 clairvoyant and medium sessions with humans and animals. Her rare talents are recounted in detail by a growing list of grateful clients.

Rachael has a Doberman pup named Obie. Obie isn't a bad dog, but he started acting up after Rachel left town on business and trusted him to an irresponsible critter sitter. When Rachel returned, Obie was cowering in corners, biting the walls, and if she left him alone he whined. As the days passed, the cowering subsided but he continued to chew on the plaster and began fighting with other dogs. With Anupo on the phone, Rachel held the handset next to Obie's ear. As Anupo promised to see him in the morning. Obie cocked his head and listened. The next morning, he waited by the gate until she arrived.

What happens when Anupo talks to the animals seems a mystery. It looks like a silent discussion between animal and human characterized by an intense mutual attentiveness. A paw will rest in her hand. Licks to the face are frequent, as are rapid nods of a furry or feathered head. At times the animal might run off -not to return until Anupo has explained the pet's emotions to a puzzled human.

During Obie's session, Anupo sensed that the women hired to care for him has been excessively nervous and forgetful. Her energy had established a pattern which Obie was now recreating. Anupo used her intuitive gifts to diffuse and transform his upset. No longer interested in wall-biting, Obie has reverted to his happy self.

Steve Cooke moved into the Ocean Beach house he had been renting to a pair of "restless" tenants. His cats Izzy and Ladybug weren't happy about it. Living under the flight path for jumbo jets was a big part of the problem, but it wasn't the whole story. After moving in, Ladybug suffered a serious bout of constipation and two months later Izzy developed a liver disease caused by her refusal to eat. As Izzy's health declined, Ladybug became vocal and agitated.

Beyond the noise, which was bothering everyone, Anupo sensed that the space was like Swiss cheese. Energy from the busy street was leaking in and zipping through the place like a freeway for wayward intentions. Among suggestions to alter the sound patterns, Anupo directed Steve to walk the perimeter of his house and yard and use his intention to clear it from anything other than love. Steve did this with noticeable improvements to everyone's mood, but claims that the most immediate results came from another suggestion.

Anupo taught Steve how to communicate with his cats. She told him to sit quietly, softly look them in the eye, and with his voice and mind tell them what was going on. "This takes practice. At first they may not get that you are intending to communicate with them. Know your intention. Visualize your thought. Then let it go and notice what comes back. It's like an echo." When the vet told Steve that Izzy was recovering, he sat with Ladybug and told her that Izzy would be fine. For days afterward, a gleeful Ladybug cavorted around like a kitten.

When asked if the animal needs to be present during a session, Anupo answers that telepathy can happen over distances. She has done readings for people whose animals are lost, as well as conducted sessions for families on the east coast. Telepathy may be difficult for most of us to practice or even to believe. We have language after all. Why read minds? That's where animals have an advantage. Not dependant on words, they have retained their natural telepathic ability. The challenge and Blessing is for us to rediscover ours.

Telepathy, the Mother Tongue

By Anupo Joy

For animals telepathy is their mother tongue, in humans it acts as though it is latent or is a second language.

Have you ever traveled in a country whose language you didn't read or write? And as you fumbled through the phrase book trying to find the right word the world bicycled by.

I remember being in the orient and trying to mail a letter at a post office. It was very busy and the clerk was harried. Even as I pointed and gestured he would not understand me. Now I have traveled a lot in countries where I don't speak the language so my miming is very good. But this man was overwhelmed and irritated and his heart was closed. I could not help but think how different he was from the family in the café I frequented. There I never failed to get a wonderful tasty meal. It's true I didn't always know what I was eating but in a country with tastes so different then my norm I could have had many unpleasant surprises and did have in other restaurants but never in that café.

The difference between the postman and the family was heart. The willingness to understand. They were willing to understand me. They were delighted to make the effort, so even as I gestured toward a dinner they would make adjustments that would work for me because their hearts told them to.

Think of this, a foreign human moving around, gesturing and making noises that convey emotion but no specific information. Sound familiar? This is what your companion animal does.

The first step to understanding / communicating with an animal is willingness to learn on your part and your animal's part. This combined with the heart, the love between you and your animal can carry you far, will stimulate the natural ability to communicate telepathicly.

The next time your animal friend pantomimes for you, feel as well as watch. How does your body feel? Sometimes a telepathic transmission will be sensed as a pressure similar to sound waves pushing from the direction of the sender. If you are listening with the intent of understanding, your focus will follow your intent creating a pathway. Quite literally an energetic pathway between you and your animal friend. If you were to see what happens energeticly you would see a soft cloud extend from you toward your animal and then finally reach them. And visa versa. The cloud that exists between the two of you is alive with information.

Experiment, investigate and you may find that telepathy is your mother tongue also.

Sitting Silently Speaks Volumes

By Anupo Joy

When people ask me how they can learn to communicate with their animals I am often reminded of a simple Zen saying.

Sitting Silently,
Doing Nothing,
Spring comes and the Grass grows by itself.

The first step of Sitting Silently creates the space for peace to arise. Those of you who have meditated or gone deeply into silent prayer have tasted this peace, this silence. Within the silence, all ripples of thought moving toward and away can be detected. You could call this telepathy, for if you sit with the ripples of thought, allowing them to be, watching them come and go, you will notice qualities of the ripples, emotions which contain information.

Sitting Silently ~ is magnificent within itself, for the truth is, all of creation is that silence and the nourishing depth and peace that arises in the silence.

Knowing that silence is the most important step in telepathic communication you can move onto learning the different imprints of thought and be able to differentiate your own internal dialog, pictures or feelings from those coming to you from another source.

How do you start? What steps do you take to uncover and deepen that which you are?

The LOVE you have for your animal friends is a blessed way to access the depth of your being. This in turn strengthens communication with all life everywhere.
~ Look at your life. Where can you cultivate quiet on a consistent basis?
~ Do you take your canine friend for a walk? After the walk spend quiet time just sitting with them in stillness.
~ Does your cat crawl into your lap? Stop what you are doing, close your eyes, slow your breath and go with her as she slips into an altered state.
~ When your animal friend catches your eye, take a moment, slow your breath, gaze softly back into their eyes. Be present with them until they are complete.

Communication is a cultivation of awareness. Just like the Grass, it grows by itself.

The Play Bow Perspective

By Anupo Joy

Animals have their own perspective on problems and solutions. When we allow them, their choices can be delightful and innovative.

A few days ago I talked with a sweet young dog who recently had some scary stressful experiences and as a result uncharacteristly lashed out at a playmate. His person, Shannon told me how confused she and his playmate were by Moncy's actions.

The young dog and I talked by exchanging pictures and silent internal statements and questions. When the stress was cleared and a new perspective brought to the situation for both Moncy and Shannon, I told the young dog he was going to have to apologize to his friend and that since I was not a dog I didn't know what that would look like. It was up to him to figure it out. I told this to him silently and verbally explained to Shannon what I was saying. After a few seconds I started giggling and laughing. Moncy had given me a delightful picture. Rear up in the air wiggling yet poised and ready to dash right or left. When next they meet his apology to his friend was to be an enthusiastic play bow!

There is a story I heard several years ago about sled dogs and a bear in Alaska. Unfortunately several chained sled dogs had been attacked by a bear.

The problem stopped one morning when the bear approached another dog. Instead of behaving with fear or aggression this dog met the approaching bear with tail wagging ready to play. Bears love to play and this one was no exception. What a picture that must have been seeing a husky and a huge bear romping, rolling and yipping and grunting in delight, snow flying everywhere We are so lucky to have animals in our lives to teach us to use play and a sense of humor to defuse stressful situations. Who knows, when given the opportunity a scary looking bear might become a lighthearted friend.
